The Winery

A boutique winery owned and run by friends and business partners Colin Hopkins and Athalie and David Martin. Construction commenced in September 2002 and completed in April 2003, opening to the public on 16th April 2003.

Sunset Winery, Kangaroo Island was officially opened by the Minister for Tourism, Hon. Jane Lomax-Smith on 31st May 2003.

Elevated sea views overlooking picturesque Eastern Cove and beyond can be enjoyed from the tasting room and recently built larger all weather deck area, whilst the barrel store and production areas are kept at a constant temperature by means of the cement “tilt-up” construction of the lower level.

The winery is situated amongst fourteen hectares of native bushland, many species of birds can be seen, resident kangaroos, the goanna and echidna, all call Sunset Winery home.

Four hundred sheoaks have been planted as a food source for the endangered Glossy Black Cockatoo.
